In our original review of Tyne Chease last year, we had to temper our disappointment that the cheeses weren't as good as we'd hoped they'd be. Ami got in touch last month to offer us the chance to test her new soya-free recipes, and we delightedly accepted!

A vegan version of a creamy soft blue cheese, for hot or cold use. BlueRisella is a flavoured version of CreamyRisella, the vegan soft cheese from the makers of MozzaRisella. Rather than mould, it's flavoured with seaweed, in the form of nori and ulva. Does it taste anything like blue cheese?

You've heard of Kite Hill and Treeline nut cheeses? Tyne Chease is the UK's version. Having never tried the American cheeses we're not going to compare, but the arrival of Tyne Chease has generated a lot of excitement, so let's see if it's any good. We sampled the Classic and the Garlic & Herb hard cheeses, along with the Soft Macadamia:

Violife 'Prosociano' Vegan Parmesan

Out with the shaker, in with the grater! At last, a big wedge of pungent vegan parmesan to grate on your pasta! There have been vegan parmesan substitutes for years, but few in block form, with most sold in shaker pots. The Violife cheese brand is now a firm favourite, so it's only right they should take up the parmesan challenge.

Organic vegan grated cheese with coconut oil and lupin flour. With Viotros, the Greek cheese maker, now doing contract manufacturing of dairy-free cheese, we're seeing a lot of very similar vegan cheeses on the market. Veganic, Violife, Jeezini and even Field Roast's Chao are all variations on the same product, and Amisa have joined in the fun too:

Teese mozzarella came second in our massive Meltdown cheese taste test last year. This sauce comes in an identical package to the firm cheese - a sort of cheese sausage. Vegan parmesan alternative made with cashews. Dairy-free, soy-free and gluten-free. Pasta sprinkles for vegetarians and vegans. This is now the third brand of grated 'parmesan'-in-a-tub that we've reviewed, after Bellissimo and Parmazano. After soy flour and coconut flour, this time it's ground cashew nuts doing the cheesy thing:

Viotros - Violife Creamy - Dairy Free Vegan Cream Cheese

New dairy-free soft cheese from the makers of Violife cheese slices, arriving in a range of flavours. Viotros announced this creamy cheese alternative late last year, but it's only recently landed in UK shops. The cheese comes in five flavours - original, herbs, tomato & basil, cucumber & dill and hot peppers. We snagged the plain and herb versions for our review:

Your favourite vegan cheese in a 200g block. Violife has only previously been available as slices. This block doesn't even appear on their website as yet, but it's making its way to your local stockist. The block means grated violife is now possible, as well chunky slices and little cubes...whatever takes your fancy.

When we heard that MozzaRisella were expanding their product line, we couldn't wait to test some of it. The company sent us some review samples of the spinach ravioli and courgette (zucchini) ravioli, both of which have CreamyRisella within:

New: Bellissimo Vegan Parmesan

Cherub Dairy Free of New Zealand make a parmesan alternative that's now available in the UK. Last year we reviewed a similar product called Parmazano, by Life Free From, but that has since been discontinued. This new Bellissimo product comes in a similar shaker pack and is designed as a cheesy topping for pasta:

Vegan margherita pizza with Tofutti mozzarella cheese. Part of Triano Brands (best known for Tofutti), the Mamma Cucina range in the UK now includes dairy-free ice cream, cheesecakes, quiches and pizzas. Just like the quiche and cheesecake, this pizza is also gluten-free. We've tried Tofutti cheese on pizza before...so does this make a worthwhile frozen pizza?

Since the original cheese slices launched earlier this year, the range has expanded rapidly. We picked out four of the new flavoured cheeses for our review:
