Review: Tofutti Minis - 'Better Than Cream Cheese'

Mini snack packs of dairy-free and soy-free cream cheese. Based on a protein blend including rice, fava bean and garden pea. This is a six pack of little snack pots, so you can get your dairy-free fix on the go. We picked up the Roasted Red Pepper & Garlic flavour.

If you're avoiding soya, you probably avoid Tofutti normally, as the products usually include tofu and other soy proteins. We're intrigued by the new vegetable protein blend - it's some weird mix (see ingredients panel below). 

We think the US-UK translation has failed though because Sweet Peas are toxic - we think they mean Garden Peas.

Normally we find Tofutti to be too firm - you can't scoop it with a cracker. This version is softer, and by the time you've had this in your picnic bag for a couple of hours it's softer still. If you work in an office - best to keep this in the fridge until lunchtime.

We found this flavour to be very un cheese-like. The fact it's white means it looks like soft cheese, but if you were given it in a blind tasting, you might think it was Tartex. It really does taste like yeast pâté rather than soft cheese.

This is a convenient product, that tastes ok. We like the snack pots, and would like to see the plain flavour available in this format (with or without soy).
