Your favourite vegan cheese in a 200g block. Violife has only previously been available as slices. This block doesn't even appear on their website as yet, but it's making its way to your local stockist. The block means grated violife is now possible, as well chunky slices and little cubes...whatever takes your fancy.
The texture works just as well in a large block, even if it looks quite alien in that carotene yellow colour. It's not in the least bit grainy, floury or mushy, which we love. It also grates fantastically well, without the shreds sticking together.
We've said before, this cheese is nothing like a block of cheddar, but as a vegan cheese it's really very good. It smells like cheese and tastes like cheese and as long as you give it some moisture, it melts well too.
Violife Creamy is also coming soon - this is a soft cheese version of Violife. That too will come in multiple flavours like sliced Violife does. Viotros are really looking to fill up our fridges!
Verdict: New Kid on the Block

Hello. When you say 'give it some moisture' what do you mean? I didn't know about that little trick...
ReplyDeleteYou can melt Violife in a pan on the stove - just add a splash of soya milk. You can then use it thick as a cheese topping or thin it down as a cheese sauce. You could even do fondue with it.
