New: Joya Soya yoghurts arrive in the UK

Joya Soya Yoghurts, dairy-free and vegan

The Austrian soy-dairy brand Joya landed on UK shores last month, with sales going live in Sainsburys. Produced in Vienna, Joya has been on the market since 2002 and is big in Austria, Germany and 30 other countries. The UK launch includes plain and fruity yoghurts, with plans to bring soya shakes over here too. We grabbed a fruity selection to see how they compared to our current UK favourites.

Review: Reese's Shell Ice Cream Topping

Reese's Shell Chocolate & Peanut Butter Ice Cream Topping

Chocolate and Peanut Butter ice cream shell topping from Reese's - the peanut butter cup makers. Vegans have to get their peanut butter cups from elsewhere, but Reese's Shell topping is dairy-free. You can top off your favourite dairy-free ice cream with this intriguing flavour shell:

Review: Vive Soy Range of Soya Milks

Vive Soy Range of Soya Milks

Spain's biggest brand of Soya Milk, now in the UK. Vive Soy launched earlier this year in Tesco with six flavours. Unusually, the range includes chocolate and cappuccino flavours in full size cartons. We thought we'd take an overview of the full range:

Review: Hotel Chocolat Selection

Pistachio Crunchies, Gianduja Bombe, Marzipan Ingots from Hotel Chocolat's vegan range

In the vegan range - Pistachio Crunchies, Gianduja Bombe, Marzipan Ingots. Hotel Chocolat's range is ever changing, but helpfully they label their stuff as vegan, so it's quick to find something dairy-free. We picked out three packs that caught our eye:

Review: HESTON from Waitrose - Chocolate Sauce

HESTON from Waitrose - Vegan Chocolate Sauce

Heston Blumenthal's weird chocolate sauce for Waitrose. Dairy-free isn't something we were expecting when we spotted this in a local Waitrose, but it sure is. The body of the sauce is based on wheat glucose syrup, and as well as chocolate, it's also flavoured with coffee. Don't for a moment think that means it tastes like mocha:

Budget Vegan: Burton's Jammie / Choccie Dodgers

Twin packs of Jammie Dodgers and Choccie Dodgers from Poundland. You've probably had a Jammie Dodger or two, but have you seen Burton's Choccie Dodgers? They're both currently on sale in Poundland in packs of two. Are either as good as you remember from childhood?

Review: Biona Large Ravioli (Spinach & Leek)

Biona Large Ravioli (Spinach & Leek)

Enormous egg-free ravioli from Biona Organic. Vegan ravioli are rare, especially large restaurant-sized ones such as these. These look like egg pasta at first glance, so you may have passed them by on the shelf, especially as they aren't even labelled vegan (come on Biona!). That nice yellow colour is in fact just turmeric, but it does make the fresh pasta look appetising:

Review: Vegusto Luncheon Roll, Lyon-style

Vegusto Luncheon Roll, Lyon-style

Slicing sausage from the Vegusto range of vegan meats and cheeses. We've been sampling some of Vegusto's range recently and the idea of a good slicing sausage appeals greatly. Lyon sausage is apparently a highly-seasoned smoked pork sausage with a bit of garlic, but we've never tried it so can't comment on authenticity. Let's review it as a versatile vegan slicing sausage:

Review: Huji Food Ready-to-Eat Tofu

Huji Food Ready-to-Eat Tofu (various flavours)

A selection of Chinese tofu strips, semi-dried, seasoned and ready-to-eat. You can find these packs of meaty tofu strips in Chinese supermarkets. They're long life and don't need refrigeration and so are a useful cupboard standby for a quick stir-fry. The four flavours on offer are spicy, pickled chilli, hot and barbecue.
