Fairtrade luxury hot chocolate serving in dark choc 'n' mint flavour. This is an unusual format for selling hot chocolate - a chunk of real chocolate with a wooden spoon embedded in it. This arrived with the January Vegan Tuck Box:
This is quite a lump of chocolate for a single serving, so we used a large mug. You stir the chocolate into hot milk - we used two-thirds rice milk to one-third soya milk.
Dissolving the chocolate takes at least a couple of minutes of stirring. This is billed as 'dark' chocolate and it certainly turned out darker than a regular mix would. It wasn't bitter at all though, as there is enough sweetness to counter that - and a whole mug of milk to offset the darkness. The mint is delicate and makes for a delicious drink.
This is something of a novelty product - great as a gift maybe. It not very convenient to stir for two minutes, and the economics of a single serve product means you won't keep these by the cupboard full.
It's enjoyable though, attractive, delicious and fair trade too, so what's not to like?
The Good: Great presentation, delicious hot chocolate
The Not-so-good: Slow to dissolve and relatively expensive
