Dairy-free yoghurt-pot desserts with a base of coconut cream, from producer Global Bounty. These are uncultured (not yoghurt) long life (ambient) dessert pots with fruit flavours. From the same stable as the Really Not Dairy range of yoghurts and mayos, these are a soya-free option. The pots are sold individually and come in four flavours, three of which we chose to check out:
|
Mango and Passionfruit |
Despite the coconut cream base, these desserts are not very creamy and not very yoghurt-like. They're very similar is style to the
Sojade Riz desserts we reviewed last year. The consistency is runny and syrupy, and the flavour is sweet and fruity. One good thing is that they're not grainy or chalky.
|
Hint of Lemon |
The 'Hint of Lemon' flavour is quite bland and watery, while the 'Summer Fruits' and 'Mango and Passionfruit' flavours are pleasant enough but we wouldn't call them delicious.
|
Summer Fruits |
Unless you're allergic to soya, or really looking for long-life (unrefrigerated) desserts, we can't think how these would appeal. They're not low fat or low sugar, so are not aimed at the diet market. If you're selling your product as 'Deluxe' then it should be luxuriously thick, creamy and delicious - and these Xotic desserts are not any of those things.
The Good: Fruity, smooth, not grainy
The Not-so-good: Runny and not creamy
