Review: Tesco 'Free From' Banana Smoothies

Tesco 'Free From' Banana Smoothies

Dairy-free coconut milk smoothies with banana, apple and passion fruit. These fruit smoothies from Tesco are labelled just as 'banana smoothies', but coconut features more prominently on the packs. The fruit content is actually mostly apple, followed by banana and little bit of passion fruit:

The multi-pack contains four screw-top pouches, which are easier to use than straws, but do look a little over packaged for the small amount of smoothie in each. The smoothie is very thick, and rather than drink it, you need to squeeze the contents into your mouth through the nozzle.

We emptied one out into a glass to get a better look at it, and as you can see, there's about half a glass full in each pouch. The colour is a bit odd, thanks to all of that apple.

The taste of coconut milk doesn't come through at all, which is a little disappointing. There's banana flavouring in the ingredients, and the smoothie smells like banana-flavoured sweets. Banana is the strongest taste, but you can also taste the apple and you even get a little tang from the passion fruit.

We like them, but you can certainly make better banana smoothies at home. If you're out and about though, these pouches are very convenient for a shot of dairy-free smoothie on the go.

Verdict: Bags of Banana
