Budget Vegan: Fruitypot Jelly Desserts

Vegan jelly pots

Three packs of vegan jelly pots from Poundland. Peach jelly with fruit pieces...good value at 3 pots for a pound. Unusually, they're even labelled as vegan:

Unlike the jelly pots from Hartleys that these were sat alongside, these jellies are animal free. The Hartley pots don't even use gelatin, but do have carmine as colouring (odd, we know). These ones originate from China, but are packaged by Caterer's Choice in Huddersfield. The gelling agent is carrageenan, and they're sweetened with apple juice.

The jelly is rather soft... softer than you'd get from a packet jelly, but holds together well. The soft jelly does let the ripe peach pieces shine. We think these jellies are great for a budget option, especially as they have no added sugar and no artificial sweeteners or colours. Soft, naturally sweet and tasting not unlike peach tea.

Verdict: Jolly good jelly
