Salad Days. Review: Granovita Salad Cream

UK Vegan Review: Granovita Vegan Salad Cream

Salad Cream...the salad dressing of 1970s Britain....and now vegans can reminisce too. Salad cream is different to mayo...thinner, sweeter and more tangy. Granovita produce both a vegan mayo and a vegan salad cream for the UK market. We grabbed a squeezy bottle of the Salad Cream for our review....but will it take you back to your salad days?

Colour-wise, salad cream is traditionally more yellow than mayo, and so too with the Granovita stuff....thanks to a pinch of beta-carotene. In the bottle it looks quite a creamy colour, but it's quite hard to capture on camera...

Granovita Vegan Salad Cream spoonful

Taste-wise this is uncannily like traditional salad cream which would normally have eggs in. We honestly don't think anyone would notice the eggs are missing in this version as the flavour is spot-on. If you like salad cream, you'll almost certainly like this. It's smooth, clingy on your salad leaves, tangy on your tongue and all round it's really very good.

Give it a try....even if you didn't like the eggy stuff.

Verdict: The cream of salad dressings
