There are three varieties of the soup, Seaweed & Tofu, Mushroom & Spices and Wholesome Vegetable. There are quite distinct flavours amongst these three options. All of them come in the same format though - inside each pack is a single freeze-dried cube. You simply add hot water to make your soup in an instant.
These soups are really tasty. So good in fact, it's hard to choose between them and pick a favourite. The wholesome vegetable flavour has spinach, cabbage, carrots and shallots. All the ingredients are sourced from areas of Japan well clear of radiation risk.
Wholesome Vegetable |
The Seaweed and Tofu flavour actually has two types of tofu. Along with silken tofu, there are some chewy strips of abura-age (fried tofu), which are really delicious. The shallots are so sweet you want to savour each piece.
Seaweed & Tofu |
The Mushroom and Spices flavour has no less than four types of mushroom in there, in the form of Enoki, Nameko, Maitake and Shiitake. The spices are some gently warming red chilli flakes, which makes this soup an ideal winter warmer on a cold evening.

Round Up
At the moment, the only way to buy Tsubi Soups in the UK is to mail order them direct from Tsubi's website. That's a pity, as these are the best miso soups we've ever had, and they deserve to be more widely available. All three varieties are super tasty, and are all without MSG, preservatives, colours and sweeteners. Miso is also a complete protein, meaning it contains all essential amino acids, and is packed with B vitamins and antioxidants too.
