Review: Olivia Soaps & Balms

Natural, organic, handmade vegan soaps, butters and balms. Michelle from Olivia Soaps sent us a selection of their range for our review. We got the Lavender & Sandalwood Soap, Rosa Mosqueta Balm, and Peppermint Lip Balm. It certainly smells good:

This is definitely the most fragrant package we've received here at Veganoo, with lavender and sandalwood wafting headily from the block of soap within. The soap is handmade, like everything else, and is cut from a larger block.

Michelle has a good blog post on the advantages of block soap over body washes, and she puts it far better than we could, so read that here. We found the soap to be gentle on the skin, although in the absence of a soap dish...it can get pretty messy.

The intensive balm is made from a blend of vegetable butters, oils, vitamin E, plant extracts, and essential oils. It's intended as a toning balm, for use on scars and marks. Rosa mosquito is rosehip oil and is traditionally used to treat marks, scars and wrinkles.

It's difficult for us to say it works in a short review, but it's beautiful to use and certainly leaves the skin softer. You can use it under tired eyes to reduce the appearance of lines and colouring.

Lip balms are somewhat easier to review, and we like the peppermint 'flavour' of this one. The ingredients list sounds like a delicious recipe, with cocoa butter and peppermint oil, as well as jojoba oil and olive wax. The lip balm is non-sticky, as it doesn't contain shea butter, and like all Olivia products, there are no petrochemicals. What we like best is that something you put on your lips is actually fully vegan!

The range also includes some lovely sounding body butters, massage oils and home fragrances.

You can buy the Olivia Soaps range online at oliviasoapsandbalms.com
If you use the code VEGANOO at the checkout, you'll get a 10% discount. What's more, when you spend £9, you'll get free shipping AND you can also request a free sample of any other product.

The range is fantastic value, for vegan, organic, natural products, with no petrochemicals or synthetic scents. Ingredients are even fair-trade wherever possible.
