Canned seitan pieces in stock. Great store cupboard standby for pie fillings, like a vegan version of steak chunks. We tried them out in a seitan and mushroom pie:
Canned seitan is widely available in the form of mock duck, and this stuff is pretty similar. It's made in Taiwan, where a lot of mock duck comes from too. The chunk-shaped pieces lend themselves to more western style dishes though.
The cubes can quickly be made into a pie filling, with nothing more than onions and mushrooms. We took some of the stock from the can and thickened it to make a sauce. Seitan and mushroom pie makes a hearty meat-free dinner. The seitan is chewy but not too rubbery, and has a mild meaty flavour.
If you're placing an order with Alternative Stores, it's well worth ordering a can of Cubes. It's not quite worth a special order though, when mock duck will suffice for most recipes.
The Not-so-good: Not distinct enough from mock duck

I bought a can of this from VX not so long ago and loved them! I bbq'd them on kebab sticks with mushrooms, peppers and onions. Definitely gonna give the pie a go.
