Review: Tabasco Spicy Chocolate

Tabasco Spicy Chocolate is vegan

All American chocolate with a kick. We found this in the US imports section of a big Tesco. Not a lot else was vegan (although something from Reeses coming shortly... don't get your hopes up, it isn't peanut butter cups). This tabasco chocolate comes in a tin, like a shallow tobacco tin, and inside there are 8 wedges of hot pepper chocolate:

This is dark / plain chocolate, with 55% cocoa. The Tabasco is added as a dried flavouring, and imparts a little sweetness as well as the obvious spiciness.

The chocolate is pretty good, and as you open the tin you get a waft of sweet vanilla which gives you a false sense of security about what's coming... The hot pepper flavour isn't too strong, in fact as you chew you'll hardly notice it...until you swallow and it burns your throat!

We've tried lots of chilli and cayenne chocolates, and this is one of the more balanced ones, and therefore one of the more successful ones. If you know a Tabasco-loving vegan, this would make a great gift idea.

Verdict: Hot Chocolate
