Dairy-Free faux milk chocolate spread. Another sweet option for your pancakes on Tuesday. This chocolate spread is a milk-chocolate styled version with soya in lieu of cow juice. Plamil make a range of four chocolate spreads, with an original darker version as well as sugar-free and chocolate-orange options. This is not a hazelnut spread: Plamil don't use nuts in their chocolate factory.
What strikes us straight away after just reviewing Shneider's thick chocolate spread, is that this is a runny textured spread...almost a chocolate sauce. No doubt this is due to the use principally of sunflower rather than palm oil (there is a small amount of palm fat in here). We think this is largely a cosmetic issue, as the runny consistency has an advantage... it's easy to spread.
We spread ours thickly between the layers of a quartered pancake and tucked in. This is a very chocolatey spread...it's not as mild and milky as you might expect from a faux-milk product. This is a lovely tasting spread, which we can recommend highly... but it doesn't quite have the magic of the Shneider stuff.

Plamil do several different chocolate spreads, I've tried 3 or 4. My favourite is the one in the browny-orange lable http://www.plamilfoods.co.uk/spreads/organic-chocolate-spread
ReplyDeleteThis one tastes like rich chocolate fudge sauce (like the stuff you get in a chocolate fudge cake).
It's by far the best chocolate spread Plamil do.
