Vegan caramel shortbread in the Free From section at Morrisons. There is at least one other widely available dairy-free caramel shortbread that we've reviewed - in the Lazy Day range of tray bakes. This one is distinctly different and isn't made by Lazy Days and repackaged. Have Morrisons managed to perfect that all important vegan caramel layer?
The oddest thing about this shortbread is that the layers fall apart in your hand...the chocolate, caramel and shortbread are almost completely separate and the slightest nudge will separate them. At least it made it easy for us to taste the individual layers.
We've made special trips to Waitrose just to buy the Lazy Days stuff, but if you don't go to Morrisons regularly, this shortbread is not something that will change that.
Verdict: Pauper's Shortbread
Veganoo Score: ★★☆☆☆

I completely agree with this review. I can eat most things, but they went in the bin! Yack!
ReplyDeleteWhen are food producers going to realise vegans are not happy to just settle for sub-standard products?!
ReplyDeleteThere is hope, they have improved and are yum !!
ReplyDeleteWe need to get back to Morrisons and try this year's recipe...
