Review: Dame Blanche Chocolate Cream Biscuits

Dame Blanche Chocolate Cream Biscuits

We had high hopes for these cookies we spotted on Veganstore. They are large chocolate sandwich biscuits in the style of German doppelkeks, but they also look a bit like Wagon Wheels (Moon Pies for US readers). They aren't at all like Wagon Wheels in reality as they have a chocolate fondant rather than a marshmallow centre. Are these sandwich biscuits worth adding to your next Veganstore order though?

Dame Blanche vegan doppelkeks

Short answer...probably not. Not unless you're looking for vegan doppelkeks that are... just a little dull. The chocolate coating is thin, the biscuits are very plain and the cream filling isn't at all exciting. There is a hit of vanilla when you bite in (not natural though) and the biscuits are very light...almost cracker-like, but they won't wow your non-vegan friends.

If these were bourbon biscuits you'd picked up from the local Nisa you'd appreciate them, but they're not really worth mail ordering.

Available from Veganstore if you want to try for yourself.

Verdict: Stick to bourbons
