Review: Mr Stanley's Fondant Creams

Review: Mr Stanley's Fondant Creams (vegan)

There was a time when pretty much the only vegan chocs you could buy were dark chocolate fondant creams. Mercifully those days are behind us, but it may be time to re-appraise the humble fondant cream, especially in light of these great tasting offerings from The Gourmet Candy Company. The creams are available in Rose and Violet, but avoid the non-vegetarian Lime flavour.

Review: Mr Stanley's Rose Creams (vegan)

Both flavours are really well balanced, with a strong but not overpowering flowery taste, and have nice thick dark chocolate shells. The Rose flavour has echoes of turkish delight and a lovely floral scent.

Review: Mr Stanley's Violet Creams (vegan)

The violet flavour might remind you of Parma Violets if you ate those in your non-vegan days (animal stearic acid in those). The taste is decidedly floral and is probably one of those love it or hate it flavours...we loved it.

The 90g boxes are available at John Lewis and independent retailers.

  1. These sound great, but I've just been on the Mr Stanleys website, and both of these creams are noted as "not suitable for vegetarians".

  2. Huh, they must have changed. At the time of this review only the lime ones said that. We'll update the post...thanks for the tip-off!
