Vegan protein bars in Peanut Butter Toffee Crunch, Chocolate Brownie and Berry Almond Crunch flavours. 18g protein per bar, and gluten-free. We picked up these nutrition bars based on the delicious sounding flavours, but there are some good nutritional principles in there too:
These bars are energy bars with a difference: they are one-third protein, which is a lot higher than bars like the Clif, and makes them more nutritionally balanced. Another difference is that they are fairly high-calorie, for energy, while being low GI, for sustained release (without causing your blood sugar to spike). They're also free of trans fats.
They're suitable nutrition for all kinds of sport and fitness, include muscle building. You could also just eat them as a mid-morning snack, but beware the high calories if you don't need them.
So how do they taste? The answer is remarkably good! The standout flavour is the Peanut Butter Toffee Crunch, which tastes as good as it sounds. The Berry Almond Crunch is very fruity and tastes great. The Chocolate Brownie bar is pleasant enough, but can't quite match the other two. There are a couple of other flavours available too, including Granola Crunch and Peanut Butter Choc Chip.
We like that these bars are very clearly vegan labelled, contain no refined sugar, no palm oil and no sweeteners either. The only downside is the price - about £2.50 each. That's expensive, but about the same as other protein bars available (and those are packed with dairy waste and sugar!)
The Good: Great taste and nutritionally balanced
The Not-so-Good: A little expensive
