Review: Meridian Nut Bars

Meridian Peanut Bar and Almond Bar

Almond bar and Peanut bar with 55% nuts. Meridian are the whole food company who specialise in nut butters, seed butters and fruit spreads. Their new 'cereal' bars extend their nutty offerings to the snack bar market. Are we nuts about them?

The bars are dense and compact, like a solid block of nut butter. The bars are similar in texture to the compacted fruit and nut bars like Nakd, but without the fruit. There is some fruit content, by way of concentrated fruit juices.

The nuts are in chunks as well as ground up, which gives them a nice bit of texture. The bars are held together with agave syrup, along with that fruit juice concentrate. The bars are not overly sweet, which we like, which gives the nuts a chance to shine.

The peanut bar is the better of the two, with a good peanutty flavour - if you're a peanut butter fan, you'll love these. The almond bars are more refined and delicate, with a less distinct taste. We think both will find a niche in the ever more crowded snack bar market.

The Good: Nice and Nutty
The Not-so-Good: No crisp or crunch

  1. I agree that they taste like a solid lump of nut butter! I would prefer more of a texture but they're not bad.
