Review: Zotter Mitzi Blue White Chocolate

Zotter - Mitzi Blue 'Rice in Paradise' - Dairy Free Vegan White Chocolate

'Rice in Paradise' R.I.P.  rice milk white chocolate with cape gooseberries (physalis) from Austrian chocolate specialists Zotter. This is the second Zotter product to arrive from Vegan Tuck Box. Zotter appear to specialise in the 'unusual', and this is certainly like no other chocolate:

The bar consists of a large wheel of dairy-free white chocolate, with a disc of faux-milk chocolate in the centre. The white chocolate is studded with dried physalis fruits. The bar was broken on arrival, which often happens to chocolate sent in the post.

The back of the bar looks a bit like a spider's web. You don't get many chocolate bars looking like this.

This isn't the best vegan white chocolate we've reviewed, but it's not the worst by a long stretch. The chocolate is smooth and creamy, but just a bit too hard and didn't melt in the mouth. The faux-milk chocolate in the middle is also quite hard and bit too plainly flavoured. The dried physalis were fantastic though, like the most sour things you could eat, but sweet too.

If you're on the look out for novel things to try, you might enjoy this. It would also make a nice gift for the vegan who's tried everything else! It's not about to be the next blockbuster dairy-free chocolate though.

The Good: Smooth, creamy white chocolate
The Not-so-good: A bit on the hard side
