Review: Rakusen's Dairy-Free Chocolate Digestives

Rakusen's Dairy-Free Chocolate Digestives

Kosher/Parev biscuits with dark chocolate coating from Leeds firm Rakusen's. Dark chocolate digestives often have 'milk fat' in the dark chocolate, which is no good for us vegans. These ones, found in Sainsburys, are dairy-free:

Vegan Dairy-Free Chocolate Digestives

You don't get a lot in a pack. One of the first things we noticed was that the chocolate coating didn't have the gloss of a well tempered chocolate, but was rather more 'matt'. It didn't have any bloom and the sheen was the same throughout the pack, so we don't think this is down to storage.

These digestives are firmer and less crumbly than you might expect. Together with the hard chocolate, you don't really get that melt-in-the-mouth sensation. The chocolate is thin and isn't great quality, but it's better than no chocolate...

We were a bit disappointed with these biscuits. If you haven't had a chocolate digestive for a while, they might only serve to remind you what you're missing, instead of satisfying your cravings.

Verdict: Indigestives
