Review: Koko Milkshakes

Coconut milk dairy-free milkshakes in multipacks from Koko (formerly Kara). We love Koko coconut milk, and we've also sampled the chocolate version at various vegan festivals, so we were pleased to see these multipacks appear. Available in Strawberry and Chocolate flavours, oddly in different shaped packs. They're long-life and come with straws, but also have a tear-off corner if you have a glass handy:

Koko Dairy-Free Strawberry Milkshake

The tall slim carton of the Strawberry milkshake looks more sophisticated than the squat chocolate one, but we wanted to see, as well as taste, these shakes so we poured them out into glasses. The Strawberry shake is pale in colour, but full of flavour. The texture is just a tiny bit chalky, which could be the added calcium? Chilled, this makes an excellent refreshing drink on a hot summer's day.

Koko Dairy-Free Chocolate Milkshake

The chocolate shake is also full of flavour and a much bolder colour too. Despite the relatively low cocoa content, this is a deeply chocolatey milkshake. The shake is quite sweet, which we like. The texture of chocolate milkshakes is usually quite powdery from the cocoa, so any chalkiness isn't obvious in the chocolate version.  Also good chilled.

You can't really taste the coconut in either of these milkshakes as the flavours are pretty strong. If you're avoiding soya though, these have got to be your first choice of dairy-free milkshakes, especially now you can buy them economically in multipacks.

Koko is a family owned company who grow their own coconuts.

Verdict: A lovely bunch of coconut shakes
