Review: BioNova Organic Baked Beans

Do organic baked beans earn their premium price tag? Not all baked beans are vegan... some have milk in... dangerous when beans-on-toast seems like the only safe bet at some cafes. These BioNova beans are dairy-free, but are they delicious?

Apart from coming in a glass jar, and costing three times as much...these look like ordinary baked beans from a can. You can eat baked beans cold... if you haven't tried, it give it a go.

A nice crispy baked potato is a great way to eat baked beans. We found these organic ones were not quite as saucy as canned beans though and they left us disappointed and in need of a little mayo for moisture. The taste is good...just like regular beans in fact.. which is where we ask whether the premium for organic is worth paying. At three times the price we'll probably stick with Heinz.

Verdict: We've 'bean' expecting you (we saw you coming).

  1. It isn't just the taste though with Organic, it's food not being covered in pesticides etc. It's the more healthy option.

  3. You're forgetting it is in Glass. Even Heinz organic are in a tin can, very likely Lined with BPA and if BPA-FREE then likely they use another chemical, could be worse and of unknown toxicity ..

  4. Exactly John, seems people are happy to sacrifice their health just because it's a bit cheaper! Shame the reviewer was too ignorant to take the fact they are in a glass jar into account. Just another thoughtless, cost obsessed approach.
