Gluten-Free Vegan: Mamma Cucina Quiches Review

Mamma Cucina Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Vegetable Quiches

Delicious dairy-free quiches....at least that's what it says on the pack. You may have seen these gluten, egg and dairy free quiches in the freezer at Holland & Barrett. The Mamma Cucina brand from Triano (the Tofutti makers) also appears on cheesecakes and pizzas. We popped a couple of these mini quiches in the oven to see if they're any good.

The frozen quiches need about half an hour in the oven, and can be eaten hot or cold. Size wise these are enough for a main meal if served with potatoes and veg.

They look pretty good once cooked, although the bases are a little crumbly and you might struggle to get the quiches out and onto the plate intact. That crumbliness is noticeable on the fork too, although the topping holds it together somewhat. The gluten-free pastry is a little gritty as usual when rice flour is involved. The topping is flavoured with broccoli and peppers but you can still taste the tofu...or should we say the Tofutti used as the egg and dairy substitute. A little more seasoning wouldn't go amiss here.

The quiches are just ok...not good, not bad...could be better.

Verdict: Not quite like Mamma used to make...

  1. Wish these were still available in 2022. Not found anything like them in last 10years.
