Live from Leicester Vegan Fair 2012

A sunny Saturday in Leicester and the place is packed out for this year's vegan fair. Read on for our blog of the day's events.

That vegan banoffee pie shown above was really special and tantalisingly placed by the door when you walk in, on the Vegan Outreach stall. It's made with vegan condensed milk bought off Amazon apparently.

Speaking of Vegan Outreach, here's Ruth from the Lincoln group giving a talk on their work which includes the UK's first vegan radio show The Species Barrier

The Species Barrier vegan radio show broadcasts online and on Siren FM in Lincolnshire.

The Goodlife girls are a common site at festivals giving away samples of their food....generous hot samples too..

The Animal Aid stall with a good supply of Go Max Go choccy bars for sale.....must....resist...

Music from Leicester based singer songwriter Becky Edwards. We recorded a video but the sound quality wasn't good with all the background noise from the fair. She's great though and you can find out more about her at beckyedwardsmusic.co.uk

The main hall with most of the stalls. Currant Affairs catering and a smaller room of stallholders were in the school's dining hall.

Making festivals and fairs smell lovely up and down the country...the Lush stall is always an attraction

Vegan Runners doing a bit of fundraising and a bit of promotion too. Find out more about them at veganrunners.org.uk

It wouldn't be Leicester without some great Asian food. Miniature burgers with aubergine were the highlight of this stall.

The Raw Delights stall with samples of their raw granola, crackers and snack bites. You can find them at rawdelights.co.uk

Richard Bonfield, resident poet at the Born Free Foundation reads some moving poems from his latest work entitled Wildness: Animals in their Habitats, a collaboration with Pollyann Pickering. Find out more over at Born Free.

Francine from Chocs that Rock gives a chocolate making demonstration...mixing cocoa butter and cocoa mass with Sweet Freedom syrup in front of a live and very keen audience. You can buy their chocolate making kits over at chocsthatrock.com

Leicester Vegan Fair 2012 was a really well attended event with loads of great stalls, talks, music and demos and we're looking forward to next year already!

Next up for us is the West Midlands Vegan Festival in October.
