We've covered Delamere Dairy's soya shakes and their soya milk and now it's the turn of their chocolate desserts. The four packs of dessert pots can be found in the chiller section and therefore have better visibility than UHT desserts such as Alpro. Available at selected ASDA stores only, these desserts are quite hard to track down, so you'll want to know...are they worth seeking out?
If you've tried Alpro, Provamel or even Tesco's own brand chocolate desserts, you'll kind of know what to expect in this category...thick, custardy and chocolatey. The Delamere desserts are similar to the other brands in this respect, although we thought they were even thicker and perhaps even more chocolatey. They're not oversweet, which is good as it allows some of the bitterness of cocoa to come through for a grown up kind of taste.
The desserts are great tasting and have just enough distinctiveness to seek out over the other brands, so give them a try if you can find them.
Verdict: Thick, with a cocoa kick

I love these desserts. I think they have a slightly rounder flavour than the Alpro chocolate desserts.
ReplyDeleteIt's just a shame that they are made by a Dairy company. As positive as it is that they are promoting alternatives to dairy they are still ventures funded by a dairy company.
ReplyDeleteYup, we like to see it as glass half full...the dairy companies' transition to non-dairy can only be a good thing.
