Review: The Mighty Burger Co - Original Burgers

The Mighty Burger Company - Original Flavour Burgers

Bristol startup making gluten-free vegan burgers. We've been on the lookout for these since they launched earlier in the year, and this pack of two burgers arrived with the Vegan Tuck Box in November:

They're packed in longlife packaging and just need frying. The burgers come with chargrill marks and look pretty good straight from the pack.

We served them up with ketchup and vegan cheese, but that couldn't hide our disappointment. The burgers are very dry and stodgy. They're a mush kind of texture, neither meaty nor vegetabley, but like a homemade mashed-bean burger. There's no kind of juiciness at all, and the burgers are sticky and quite hard to swallow. The flavour is ok, with the smoked paprika dominating.

Round up

We didn't get to try the original recipe before the company removed the gluten, but we rather suspect it was better than this. Forget the gluten-free market, and get the vegan recipe right first. For the best vegan burger, our recommendation of Sojade still stands firm.

The Good: They look good...
The Not-so-Good: Dry, sticky and disappointing
