Ginger, Almond or Cappuccino flavour biscuit thins. Sweden's most loved pepparkaka, since 1929. These biscuits are from the Lotus biscuits stable, and are similar to caramelised biscuits. They're perfect with tea or coffee:
The biscuits all look pretty similar, except for a little variation in colour. The almond biscuits include small pieces of almond, a bit like speculoos or windmill cookies.
We've come across the ginger and almond flavours before, and both are great. The cappuccino flavour is new to us, and we were surprised to see that there's no milk in the ingredients list, frothy or otherwise. The coffee flavour is more like a simple black coffee than cappuccino though, so maybe they're supposed to be dunked in cappuccino?
The texture of these biscuits is great - crispy crunchy, but not too hard. You can dunk them, but not for too long if you want to avoid soggy biscuit in your cuppa. They're well worth seeking out.
We found ours in a gift shop in Stafford
Verdict: Thin is in!

Have you tried the Lotus sandwich spread?
ReplyDeleteIt's in the 'pipeline' for review... currently sat waiting to be opened... You like?
DeleteI'm still confused that it exists, but yes, it's very nice. I'm not a big fan of sweet sandwich spreads, but for an indulgent treat it's definitely a thumbs up.
DeleteThe ginger thins are my favourite, I'd been buying them in my local health shop for ages but I found them in b&m bargains of all places!
ReplyDeleteGood find!
