Review: Sainsbury's Choc Chip Peanut Butter

Crunchy peanut butter with dark chocolate chips in it. At least that's what the jar says. We'd describe it more as peanut butter with swirls of chocolate sauce in it...at least at this time of year anyway:

We bought this on a fairly cool day and it hasn't been that warm since...but the aforementioned chocolate chips were most definitely melted. We wonder if this is as intended? It's really not what we expected when we picked it up from the shelf.

The swirls of chocolate make it very easy to spread and dip into, so maybe that's the point. The chocolate is dark but very sweet and makes the peanut butter more versatile than on its own. The peanut butter itself is good, but not great....a little pale and under roasted for our liking.

If you turn the jar over you can see that the chocolate was originally added as chips, but on reaching down to the bottom of the jar, these chips were equally saucy.

So, not what it says on the tin, but full marks to Sainbsury's for the dairy-less recipe.

Verdict: Hot Chip
