Review: Fry's Traditional Burgers

Fry's Family Meat-Free Traditional Burgers

The perfect burger for our earlier review of Violife vegan cheese.  Frys are the South African family firm that produce a fantastic range of frozen vegan foods. The packaging for their meat-free goodies has recently undergone a bit of re-branding and they do look a bit more sophisticated as a result. We haven't reviewed their burgers before, so we took the opportunity to do so along with the Violife cheese.

Frys produce several varieties of burger, including spiced and chicken-style, but we wanted a plain traditional burger for our cheese review. The burgers are cooked from frozen and take just 8-10 minutes in the frying pan.

Vegan Cheeseburger

What we like about Fry's is the great texture of their meat-free products. These burgers are meaty and juicy and not at all tough or dry. The flavour is without MSG or anything that leaves an aftertaste and is just flavoursome enough without being over-seasoned.

It's not the right time of year here in the UK for us to grab some photos of these on a barbecue, but we'll be returning to them in the summer to compare them with a few other vegan burgers on the market.

For now, we'll leave you with that shot of a vegan cheeseburger again. It's just about the best burger we know, paired with the best cheese we've ever reviewed. Perfect.

Verdict: Brilliant Burgers
