Review: Four Seas Crisbite Sandwich Biscuits

Lemon and Chocolate varieties of vegan sandwich biscuits from Chinese producer Four Seas. The company is one you've probably never heard of in the UK but they are a big Chinese group who produce a lot of the snack foods in your local Chinese supermarket. These Crisbite biscuits are cracker style sandwich biscuits with a fondant cream filling:

The biscuits are very much like Ritz crackers without the salt. They're not overly sweet, but the filling makes up for that. The chocolate flavour is pretty good, sweet, fairly chocolatey with a soft fondant texture. These biscuits are very much like those chocolate dipper things you can buy.

The lemon is rather less successful. A bit like a lemon puff biscuit, but without a natural lemon flavour... much more of an odd artificial lemon flavour. If you eat a second one, you notice the odd lemon flavour less. We could eat these happily, but we wouldn't go out of our way to buy them.

Your local Chinese or Asian supermarket is a good source of odd products that happen to be vegan. We bought these biscuits from a branch of Asiana.
