Orgran produce a massive range of gluten-free foods, all of which are vegan too. Their line of Biscotti Amaretti are the only vegan amaretto biscuits available in the UK as far as we can tell, so it's gluten-free or nothing for us vegans! They also happen to be yeast free, soy free and nut free. These biscotti are free-from pretty much everything, but are they free from flavour too?
The texture is not bad, although they're a little more friable than you might expect for biscotti, but they certainly have a crunch. The gluten-free flours do make the mouthfeel a little gritty...we suspect the rice flour is the culprit for this. The amaretto flavour is mild but pleasant, which is to be expected from a nut-free recipe. They're not bad for a gluten-free product and will certainly help veganize recipes that call for amaretto biscuits. Try them crumbled over some plain soya yoghurt with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Verdict: Amaretto a go-go
