New: Tesco Choc Dipped Waffle Cones

Tesco Choc Dipped Waffle Cones - vegan ice cream cones

Vegan ice cream cornets with a chocolate coating. The sun was out at the weekend and it's perfect timing for us to notice these tasty new waffle cones from Tesco. Crispy sweet cones dipped in thick chocolate...it's almost the shortcut to a 'cornetto' style ice cream. We filled them with some dairy-free vanilla ice cream and took them out into the sunshine:

Taste Test: Best Egg-Free Mayo

Best Egg-Free Mayo: Vegan Taste Test

Tiger Tiger, Granovita or Solesse - best squeezy vegan mayo? We know you like a good Taste Test and we noticed there were at least three brands of squeezy egg-free mayo on the market in the UK. We gathered up the three and sampled them side by side to see which was best. Move over Hellmans, the Egg Free cavalry has arrived:

Vegan Version: Yuba Mayo (Tuna Mayo)

Yuba Mayo (Vegan Tuna Mayo)

The Veganizer in action: fish-free but flaky, oily, meaty and delicious. If you've ever bought one of those cans of tinned yuba (soybean skins) and looked at the recipe on the back, you might have tried this before. If not, you'll also need some nori (seaweed), some lemon juice, sea salt and some egg-free mayo:

Gluten-Free Vegan: Mamma Cucina Quiches Review

Mamma Cucina Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Vegetable Quiches

Delicious dairy-free quiches....at least that's what it says on the pack. You may have seen these gluten, egg and dairy free quiches in the freezer at Holland & Barrett. The Mamma Cucina brand from Triano (the Tofutti makers) also appears on cheesecakes and pizzas. We popped a couple of these mini quiches in the oven to see if they're any good.

French Toast made with The VEGG

The VEGG vegan egg yolk french toast

We're currently working our way through a review of The VEGG vegan egg yolk and wanted to share this picture of the great French Toast we made from the recipe here. It really is an improvement on tofu-based recipes with its golden colour and pancake-like taste. When you make up the VEGG with water you'll be amazed by the eggy smell which stems from the Black Sea Salt which is high in Sulfur (old spelling: Sulphur). French Toast (or Eggy Bread as some Brits call it) is simply bread dipped in an eggy mix and shallow fried. The eggy-sulfur taste of the VEGG is lost a little in the cooking but the flavour is really rounded and fulfilling and this is great French Toast.

We're currently perfecting a better potato Frittata recipe using The Vegg.
