The funny thing about these biscuits is that the choc chips are much more in evidence on the back. From the front you can hardly see them, but there's a full 11% chocolate in there. As you bite in you get a little waft of vanilla from the chocolate, then a lovely dark cocoa flavour.
These aren't as chocolatey as the half-coated biscuits, but they're a nice step up from a plain oaty Hobnob. We'd certainly recommend these for dunking, especially in coffee. Let's hope that the dairy-fat is one day removed from the Plain Chocolate Hobnobs too.

Mother of God! This is awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt says on the back may contain milk, not suitable for me I'm afraid!!!, supposed to be vegan!!!!.
ReplyDeleteRead our Review Policy on the About Us tab. These biscuits are just made on a production line that's also used for dairy.
DeleteThanks so much for pointing this out! Off to buy some today!
ReplyDeleteFound them in my local Asda today! They are great biscuits.
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame plain chocolate hobnobs still contain milk :(
I saw these in my local Tesco Express the other week. I almost didn't bother with them since I've looked at the plain chocolate ones so many times hoping I'd read the ingredients list wrong. Couldn't believe it when I saw there was no milk. When I got home I ate the whole pack in one go! I'm so disgusted with myself, but they are really good! Tasted even better than I expected.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, great blog! I don't know how I've not seen it before. Just came across it when Googling Bourneville.
Tesco Express is a good sign...nice vegan biscuits at your local shop! Don't overdo it though Michael!
DeleteLol don't be disgusted, they are heaven and it's nice to treat yourself!
DeleteWhat about Palm oil? That kills elephants and orangutang. Often the chocolates in vegan stores are not edible for me for this reason.
ReplyDeleteI agree with rennie vegalante - I no longer knowingly buy products that contain palm oil. It may be of vegetable origin, but it causes significant harm to animals; and that to me goes against the vegan ethos.
ReplyDeleteWhere does it say palm oil?
DeletePalm oil is also known as vegetable oil. :)
DeletePeeps, I just got the recent November McVities vegan list and it's not on there.
ReplyDeleteWhat was on there....Crawford's Ginger Nuts(ho,ho,ho) Crawfords Morning coffee, McVities Ginger Nuts, McVities Tasties - Morning Coffee, Pennywise- Morning Coffee. :-o
Not sure they ever were on the vegan list as they share a production line with milk chocolate goods, but they meet our review policy as vegan.
DeleteLovely vegan biscuits :)

ReplyDeletec'mon guys... are you not reading the ingredients.. sugar sugar soya salt sugar syrup.. that's all refined and gm junk.. you call it vegan if you want, but that sh&t right there is still death..
ReplyDeletethe amount of junk i see marketed/labeled as vegan.. i guess vegans are just meant to eat anything that doesn't contain animal or diary products.. but couldn't care less about health or environment.. fair enough
